I’ve just posted a new build for Rekord Buddy 2. This is a recommended update for all users and includes the following changes:

  • FIXED: Some playlists may not sync correctly accross all databases..
  • FIXED: The + button was failing to display a menu in a lot of cases.
  • FIXED: Invalid characters in rekordbox files are now always correctly filtered.
  • IMPROVED: Play/Pause media key will now correctly pasue the track that is already playing.
  • IMPROVED: Removed ‘Save’ and ‘Revert to Saved’ in the File menu which were confusing some users.
  • IMPROVED: The + button will now only display things related to adding, not editing or deleting.

In order to get the update you have 3 solutions:
  • If you can currently launch the app without crashes. Doing so should detect the new build and offer you to upgrade after you click OK on the backup warning.
  • You can also go to the “Rekord Buddy” menu at the top and choose “Check for Updates”.
  • Failing all these, you can log into your account on Next’s website and re-download the installer. It will always contain the latest build.

You can use the little red tab on the right side of this page and that will open a support ticket.

Hi, Im trying to sync some Rekordbox tracks to Traktor but some playlists don’t sync their content, ending up with an empty playlist. This is reflected in the Rekord Buddy collection as well as traktor.
Im using the latest Rekord Buddy and Rekordbox 4.3.0

I see that you opened a support ticket for this which is the best place to get help.

I’ll pick it up from there and help you sort this out.

Yeah, I saw below that I needed to do that. Let me know what other info you need.
        Thx!

I use smart playlists extensively, and this product is killing me 🙁
I have them in iTunes, but those aren’t synced. Ok, fine. I create them in Serato, but those aren’t synced. Ok, fine. I create them, as instructed below, in Rekord Buddy, thinking this will finally solve the problem. But when I sync again – they are all deleted! Really annoying waste of time. Can you at least fix smart playlists from being deleted in Rekord Buddy? This kills me.

Glad the program doesn’t actually kill you. That would have been a pain to try and reproduce the bug 🙂

Unfortunately for now at least I can’t sync smart playlists. iTunes doesn’t export them anywhere, rekordbox doesn’t export them (or import them) and Serato’s format is proprietary. It’s a mess.

This may change in the future but for now the goal is to make RKB powerful enough to be used as the main place for organization (and smart playlists) and that way the info can be exported everywhere (as regular playlists).

That sounds fine to me – I guess my distilled feature request is to have the smart playlists (And only those) NOT be cleared on a sync from Serato? Since importing from serato doesn’t work for those anyways. Then I’m assuming they populate correctly into rekordbox, right? as regular playlists?

Open a support ticket and let me look into this. It’s a good suggestion.
